If you are considering getting a bedwetting alarm for your child or if you need it as an adult to help to try and resolve the embarassing condition of bedwetting you should consider its effectiveness.

A bedwetting alarm will in simple terms wake a sleeping child or adult as they begin to wet the bed. There has been some in depth research on this alarm to test its usefulness and they have been proven as very useful. The devise works on the simple principle that you can be trained to wake up before urination occurs and this can be used as a long term solution.

The alarm is quite simply used and needs to be given time to work, it can take up to 12 weeks as you are training the mind to wake before urination, but this is on condition that there is no physical issue that is causing bedwetting. Stress can also cause bedwetting but children generally tend to grow out of it, but an alarm can be a useful solution if bedwetting is a frequent problem.

Bedwetting in adults tends to be a more serious issue and may require medical help before attempting to use an alarm as there will be some underlying condition that is causing the bedwetting that will need to be addressed.

How a bed wetting alarm works

The mechanism of a bed wetting alarm can be very simple, there is a sensor placed in the pyjamas or on the bed so that it can sense when urination occurs. When the child urinates the alarm will sound and wake the child as they are wetting the bed, and they will stop urinating.

It will take a few weeks to work, so you need to exercise patience. It is not a quick fix but it can become a permanent one if used every night. It can take at least 2 weeks before you have a dry night and can take up to 3 months to begin to work as it programs your child to wake up as they need to urinate. If your child does not wet the bed every night it can take longer to train them but do not give up on the alarm. The alarm is also a very safe way to treat bedwetting, there is no medication involved just noise as your child wets the bed.

There are many alarms on the market available to use, the most well known alarm is the Malem alarm as it is known for its quality and reliability. Most alarms are now wireless which makes the alarm extremely convenient to use and there is no risk of getting tangled in wires. If you decide to buy a bedwetting alarm you should shop around to make sure you have an informed choice, here is my favorite product from Malem

Bed wetting can be an issue when it occurs often, it will often occur in young children as they progress through potty training and learn to sleep through the night without needing to use the toilet. Bedwetting is of course more common in boys than in girls but it can happen and sometimes for a prolonged period. It is not uncommon for children up to the ages of 7 or 8 still wet the bed on occasion as their bodies are unable to hold large amounts of urine for prolonged periods. Some children may wake at night realising that they need to urinate but will then wet the bed before they are able to get to the toilet.
If not dealt with bedwetting can cause other issues with your child having confidence issues and embarrassment from wetting the bed.
There are medical and non medical ways to deal with bedwetting in your child that will help ease the condition and deal with the embarrassment and upset caused by consistently wetting the bed.

Some easy things to implement at home with your child is to:

Reduce your child’s fluid intake before bedtime, this does not mean that you need to restrict their volume of drink, but you should implement a time before bedtime to stop fluid intake so that they are not storing fluids before bed time

Restrict access to drinks containing caffeine, caffeine is a stimulant that induces the body to urinate and may cause bedwetting at night

Make sure your child uses the toilet before they go to bed, this gives them the opportunity to empty their bladder before they go to bed, some children have a small bladder and this means that they reduce the risk of overloading their bladder before they go to bed.

Use bed time pants you can buy in any supermarket, these are pullup pants that will protect your mattress if your child does have an accident and wets themself, it can also help with night time waking as your child should still wake once they wet themself but the actual changing will only need to be the child’s underwear and not the whole bed, leading to less stress for the child and parent at night.

If your child is constipated they may wet the bed more. Get treatment as soon as possible, there are some over the counter remedies you can use but as with any child condition you should speak to your doctor to get effective treatment. By treating constipation you can often see a dramatic change in your childs bedwetting problem.

Get a bedwetting alarm, a bedwetting alarm will sense the mositure level in the air, it will alarm once it increases alerting your child to the fact that they need the toilet. These are effective as a long term soluction but it can take a number of weeks before it becomes effective.

There are no medications to take when it comes to bedwetting, this is something that will stop naturally as children get older. You should consult your doctor before using any medication in relation to bedwetting, there is no instant cure but you can take necessary steps to make your child’s transition from a bedwetting to staying dry each night as easy as possible. Bedwetting can be quite a traumatic experience for any child if not handled correctly, by taking the steps above you will make it as easy as you possibly can for your child. Remember not to shout at your child for bedwetting, its not their fault and not done purposely you should be mindful of your reaction to their bedwetting as children are sensitive and can pick up a lot.

Night terrors are something no parent wants to see their child go through but learning how to deal with it will see your child through the terrors of the night. They can happen to any child but normally only occur between the ages of 3 to 7. Depending on the circumstance they might go on into their teenage years.

Parents don’t want to see their children go through night terrors but there nothing you can do about them. Some doctors think they are a form of insecurity while others admit they don’t know what causes them. For now, you do have to deal with them if your child is having night terrors. You’ll notice they wake up with a panicky scream, which is sure to put the hair up on your arms and scare you as much as your child. They will be agitated, disorientated, unresponsive, and probably not even remember it in the morning.

They will have intense anxiety and it could be repeated for several days or even several weeks in a row. It depends on the child and the circumstances. They usually happen in the first half hour to three hours of falling asleep. Your child could wake up sweaty, with pounding hearts screaming in terror. Find a cure for night terrors is not easy since you won’t know what’s bothering them. Sometimes it just happens and all you can do is comfort them and hold them until they fall back asleep. Your child might remember a vague image or walk in their sleep but normally they don’t even remember have night terrors. You’re the only one to remember.

Finding a way to cure night terrors will involve making sure your child is feeling secure, comfortable and cozy when they go to bed. Be sure there are no traumatic events or conflicts between yourself and your partner. Sometimes even hearing a fight between other siblings will trigger night terrors.

Another way is not letting them watch violent movies or things that might bother them on TV or in the neighborhood such as the fighting couple who live across the street. There could be any number of reasons and ways to trigger night terrors in your child. Keeping them calm and happy before bedtime is the best way to prevent them.

Over the counter drugs might be another cause for your child suffering night terrors. Some of the drugs are just too strong and others will cause a chemical reaction in their brain bringing on night terrors. A nice cup of weak chamomile tea before they go to bed will keep them calm and let them fall into sleep easily. You might even want to put some in their bath before putting them to bed. You can also look into different types of herbs that calm anxiety.
Another thing you can do is not let them have colas with caffeine or too many sugary drinks. Since there is no medical treatment, of course, there is no drug to give them. Luckily, night terrors don’t last that long but if they do your child will grow out of them. The best way is to comfort them when they wake in terror and calm them down until they fall asleep again.

Bed Wetting in Children is a common issue, when children are very young they will wet the bed from time to time. By the time they reach the age of 3 they will have learned to use the toilet, but they may still wet the bed up until the age of 6. Bed Wetting is much more common in boys than in girls, and some parents may believe that they have failed in their potty training methods. This is not the case, neither the child nor the parents are at fault, bed wetting can be a stressful event but we can take away the stress and confusion of bed wetting by identifying the causes of bedwetting in boys.

The causes of bed Wetting in boys

In order to explain the causes of bed wetting in boys, we need to use the medical terms for bed wetting. Enuresis is the medical word used for bed wetting. There are two types of enuresis, primary and secondary enuresis. When a child wets the bed on a regular basis, this is called primary enuresis, if the child starts bed wetting after a prolonged period of dry nights, this is secondary enuresis.

Primary Enuresis may be caused from poor bladder control, some young children’s bladders are just not large enough to hold the amount of urine they have in their bodies through the whole night. As your child grows, so will his bladder, meaning that he will be able to hold more urine throughout the night as he gets older. Another reason may be that the nerves and muscles that control the bladder are not yet fully developed and as a result are unable to hold the urine during sleep. As your child gets older, his bladder control will improve, you can expect that as your child gets older he will outgrow this problem.

Secondary Enuresis is triggered by problems that have developed with your child, these could be a sign of stress or a medical issue. A significant change at home can result in your child suddenly wetting the bed at night. A new baby, separation of parents or from a parent, a change in childcare can upset your childs routine. This can result in Bed Wetting which is a symptom of stress in your child. It could of course be a medical issue and you should consult your doctor if your child suddenly starts wetting the bed to ensure that he does not have a urinary infection or Diabetes. Bed Wetting in boys can also be hereditary

How to treat bed wetting in boys

Bed wetting is of course a sensitive issue with your child as he gets older, this can be very upsetting for the child. Don’t punish your child, it is not his fault, and could give your child self esteem issues. There are some bed wetting solutions to manage this difficult period for your child.

Control your childs fluid intake before bed time. By reducing the amount drank by your child in the couple of hours before bed time, the bladder will not be full during the night.

Make sure your child goes to the toilet before bed this will also reduce the amount of fluid in the bladder during the night.

Create a routine for your child if he wakes up and wants to use the toilet Give your child a night light so that he can see at night when he wants to go to the toilet. Make sure there is a clear path for your child to find the toilet at night. Sometimes not being able to reach the toilet light or not being able to open a door on the way to the toilet may actually be the real reason for bedwetting so it is essential that you eliminate any of these problems for your child so that he can get to the toilet at night quickly.

Get a Bed Wetting Alarm an alarm which is fitted to your childs underwear will vibrate or make a sound when your child starts to wet himself. It will not stop him urinating but it will wake you so that you can get him to the toilet.

Keep spare sheets and mattress covers ready for any accidents if your child does wet the bed, keep clean sheets and a clean mattress cover close at hand, you should aim to change your child and the bed with as little fuss as possible, this will help to reduce the distress your child will feel when he wets the bed.

Speak to your doctor if you think there may be a medical reason for your childs bedwetting.

Bed Wetting does not stop overnight (no pun intended) but it can be managed until your child gets older and grows out of it. It is important to ensure that you do not put any blame on your child and reassure him if he is upset about his bed wetting. If your child is still wetting the bed after the age of 6, then consult a doctor. In most cases your child will simply grow out of bed wetting.

Bedwetting is a problem that many children face but it can be overcome with the right care and tools. Also known as enuresis, it is common in children. It is considered to be normal in those up to age five but in a child that is older than five, it is considered abnormal if it happens several times a week for an extended period of time.

Some people believe this is because of a disability or mental problem the child may have but this is not true. This can become a problem if the child is exposed to stress from the bedwetting problem. Unfortunately, this is a very common problem amongst many young ones and the estimate by those who have studied the problem state there are millions of little ones who have experienced it. You can find a bed wetting solution that will help end the issue.

Though there is help, it will not be an easy problem to solve. Just like every problem in the world, it will take time. You won’t be able to use it once and expect a cure. One of the major reasons this issue may occur is the fact that the child just does not want to get up and urinate in the bathroom. Laziness can contribute to the issue. Another reason is that some children may not have a mature nervous system which may cause problems with the urinary tract. There are also times when a child may have to urinate frequently because the bladder does not have the capacity to hold the fluid. This is very common in younger children up to age six.

The problem may prove to be an embarrassment but it is not the child’s fault or the parents fault so no person should be punished for the problem or blamed for it. Sometimes bladder control is difficult because the bladder has not matured enough or the child may have difficulty with sleep, which can also contribute to the problem.

One of the most popular tools that parents can use to stop bed wetting are bed wetting alarms. This tool can help children eliminate enuresis and prevent the mental embarrassment of the problem. It can help them stop bed wetting once and for all. Keep in mind this is not a cure-all and other treatments may still be necessary. A major benefit is that this bed wetting alarms help end the problem and not just cover it up or provide a temporary solution.

What do bed wetting alarms do?

They are worn in a child’s underpants and can detect moisture. They are similar to pull up diapers that are made for toddlers during the potty training process. When you use something like this, you must protect your mattress. They do not work right away, but rather over a short period of time. You must choose the type that is best for your child since there are various types available on the market. Consider safety during the bed wetting solution selection process. Make sure you have batteries to keep the bed wetting alarms running since most are battery operated.

When you have kids you have to deal with bed wetting. Kids take a while before they learn to control their bladders but in the mean time you have to deal with a wet bed. It’s not easy if you have several kids but there are ways to help them stop bed wetting.

Kids don’t know it’s not right to wet the bed. They have been used to wetting their diapers since they were born. You have to change that habit since you’re the one who encouraged the habit by using diapers at night. That’s usually 2 to 3 years of your child wetting at night. That’s not easy to change but that’s what you have to do.

Some kids are harder at learning how to stop wetting the bed at night than others are. It takes patience to train them just as it takes patience when potty training them. How to stop bed wetting is an art in patience. Here are a few ways to try and see if your kids respond. If not try another way until they stop wetting the bed.

Don’t make them feel like it’s a major crime. Let them know bed wetting is a normal function when they are young. Explain that they will learn to control their bladder at night as they get older and its okay for now. More tension and stress won’t stop their bed wetting, it will increase it.

Let them choose their own bed time underwear. When they get to choose what they wear to bed gives them a sense of ownership. They won’t want to ruin their favorite underwear by wetting in them. Hence, no more wet beds.

Give them a kind reminder to use the bathroom before they go to bed. It doesn’t help if you make a big deal about wetting the bed. Try not to remind them of the last time they didn’t use the bathroom before bed. Guilt only increases bet wetting.

Believe it out not, a spoonful of honey before bed time will help their body retain water. Honey forces the body to hold onto water so they don’t wet the bed. It doesn’t work on all kids but it does work for most of them. It’s also a little treat to get them to stop bed wetting.

Sodas, sugary drinks, and fruit juices should be limited after dinner. It takes the body several hours to process these types of drinks because the body has to take out all the “stuff” before it gets to the water content. That can have an effect on bed wetting.

Using any or all of these ways is the best way to stop bed wetting. As long as you don’t make your child feel they are unusual for wetting the bed the faster they will learn to hold it during the night. Bed wetting is natural for all kids and it just takes patience on your part to teach them how to stop bed wetting.

Lots of people with sleep apnea and even snoring have found that they can relieve their condition with a sleep apnea mouth guard. This is a simple device to use and can be found online and over the counter at your local pharmacies for only a couple of bucks. If you want one made to measure you can of course speak to your dentist to have one tailor made but it will cost you a significantly higher amount.

The sleep apnea mouth guard is shaped like a gum shield, but it is designed to help position and hold the lower jaw forward. This helps maximize airflow circulation through the breathing passage, thus reducing or eliminating snoring vibration. More specifically, it provides a forward-positioning for the tongue and helps ease the lower jaw forward as well. This minimizes the most common snoring cause – soft palette vibrations in the rear of the mouth.

As you sleep the soft tissues in the throat become relaxed, if you suffer from sleep apnea the tissues will collapse and block your airways. This will then cause you to stop breathing for a short period.

The Sleep Apnea Mouth Guard will help to keep the airways open. A lot of people have had an excellent success rate with the Mouth Guard, it is designed to keep your airways open so that you don’t stop breathing. The Mouth Guard is a non invasive way of treating Sleep Apnea and is worth trying before considering undergoing Surgery. You should of course consult your physician when considering any type of treatment for Sleep related disorders.

By using a sleep apnea mouth guard, you can relieve the symptoms of sleep apnea which will also relieve the stress on the body which occurs when sleep apnea occurs throughout the night.

A Sleep apnea pillow is designed mainly for snorers, snoring is one of the most common symptoms of sleep apnea. A Sleep apnea pillow is designed to eradicate snoring and to ease one of the main causes of Sleep Apnea. Obstructive Sleep Apnea is the most common form of Sleep Apnea. Obstructive Sleep Apnea is caused by the relaxation of the throat muscles. This causes the windpipe to collapse and as a result the airways are blocked and you are then unable to breathe. By using a Sleep Apnea Pillow, you will relieve the symptoms and is a much simpler solution to stop sleep apnea ocurring while you sleep than surgery.

A sleep apnea pillow is designed to support your neck, this prevents the user to roll onto their back. Snoring and Sleep apnea tends to be worse when you sleep on your back. The pillow holds the head in place, keeps the neck elongated and it keeps the tongue from blocking the airways.

There are plenty of sleep apnea pillows curently on the market. This pillow is approved by the FDA as suitable for use to treat Snoring and Sleep apnea.
